Narrative Description of Project

This project was carried out by Vimarsh in Jammu and Kashmir, for the state government. In this project, a census was conducted of the households to assess the magnitude of the dry latrines, semi flush and pour flush yet to be converted into water-seal latrines in the two cities of Srinagar and Jammu, besides all the towns in the state. Further, each household covered under census was issued biometric identity cards in four colors according to the type of latrine in use i.e. dry latrines, defecating in open, poor flush latrines and semi flush latrines. This would have helped the government to improve the sanitation services in the state.
