Vimarsh Successfully Completes GATS 2016

Vimarsh has successfully completed the Global Adult Tobacco Survey 2016 in the States of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Jammu & Kashmir. This was the second round of the Global survey (first one was carried out in 2009) and was coordinated by Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS).

Vimarsh completed the survey to the satisfaction of the client and managed to cover J&K despite the turmoil in the State.

The aim of the Survey was to assess and measure adult tobacco use, cessation practice, resumption causes etc. for both male and female population. This Survey covered smoking and smokeless tobacco. This was an international study sponsored by CDC USA, WHO and in India partly by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

Vimarsh carried out Mapping & Listing of the Primary Sampling Units (PSUs), Recruitment & Training of Field Teams, Data Collection using CAPI and Quality Monitoring. Respondents were males and females over the age of 15 and the Primary Sampling Units were Villages in rural areas and Census Enumeration Blocks (CEBs) in urban areas. The total sample covered was over 10,000 respondents across the 4 States.
