Narrative Description of Project

Vimarsh undertook this study for Ministry of Food Processing, Government of India in the year 1989. This study was undertaken in three states of the country namely Rajsthan, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. The objectives of the study was:
1) To determine medicinal plants most commonly used in ISM based on quantitative being used of each plant as well as the number of formulation
2) To study the availability of these medicinal plants resource in various forests ofUp, Rajasthan and Gujarat in order to develop reliable data pertaining to their geographical occurrence, quantity in which available every year, trade prices as well as methods used by the collectors and middlemen in processing, packaging and transportation of the name.
3) To make recommendations with regard to improvement in availability of these medieval plants resources from the forests where they occur.

Vimarsh did a field research for all the three states and complied a report pertaining to the objectives of the study.
