Household Survey being done in a household in Maharashtra

DLHS-4 Maharashtra was undertaken by Vimarsh in 35 districts of Maharashtra covering around 53000 households for IIPS Mumbai on behalf of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India. The household survey gathered information on indicators like socio-economic status, assets possessed, number of marriages and deaths , information on morbidity of each individual , Antenatal checkup and Post-natal care for mothers, institutional deliveries and home deliveries attended by skilled attendants, quality of care during pregnancy and during post-natal care, uses of various methods of contraception by currently married women aged 15-49 years, extent of awareness and correct knowledge about RTI/STI among ever married women aged 15-49.

An important feature of this survey was to measure the level of anemia, blood sugar, blood pressure and anthropometric parameters through the clinical, anthropometric and bio-chemical (CAB) tests. The survey was done using CAPI technique where data was collected on mini laptops and uploaded simultaneously onto a central server.

A Health Facility survey was also undertaken in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. The overall objective of this Facility survey is to assess the performance with regard to implementation of various programs under NRHM at district level by assessing the availability of critical inputs in public health care establishments. Around 2700 health facilities (Sub Health Centers, Primary Health Centers, Community Health Centers, Sub District Hospitals and District Hospitals) in MP and over 2300 in Maharashtra were covered under this survey.
